what to expect

If you are new, here’s what you can expect on a Sunday morning at MAC.

You are WELCOME – As you walk in, you may notice the wall with this message: It doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from, what you’ve done, what you’re like, or what your circumstances are right now, in Jesus’ name, you are welcome here!

What should I wear? – If you are a suit and tie person, go for it.  If you prefer jeans and a t-shirt, that’s great too.  God cares a lot more about our hearts than the clothes we wear, so come as you!

Coffee – Feel free to come early and grab a cup of coffee at the cafe (our treat!) and meet some people before the service.  You are welcome to bring your coffee into the worship service if you like.

Kids – We are a family, and we love the sound of kids in church!  We know that kids make noises, and that’s ok – don’t feel like you have to take them out of the service.  If you prefer, you can also make use of the cafe area where the service is streamed live or check your little ones into the nursery and toddler area where our awesome children’s volunteers will care for them during the service.

Music – We usually start off the service with a handful of worship songs where you can participate.  We have a rotation of five different worship teams including everyone from teens to seniors.  Usually we have a full band with drums, bass, piano, keys, acoustic guitars, electric guitars and vocals – and include worship songs by artists like Crowder, Chris Tomlin, Elevation Worship, Paul Baloche, Hillsong, Rend Collective, Phil Wickham and Jesus Culture to name a few.  Want to get familiar with the songs?  Check out the Resources>Music page in the menu above.

Prayer – Usually a  time of group prayer led by an individual, and sometimes an opportunity for individual reflective prayer.

Giving – We view giving as part of our worship.  We give because God has called us to be generous with each other out of a thankful heart because He has been ultimately generous to us.  Our giving helps fund ministries here in Morden and our workers around the world.

Children’s Program – Part way through the service, children ages 3-4 are invited downstairs to a program just for them.  They have opportunity to get to know each other and get comfortable in the classroom by playing with toys, colouring, and doing puzzles with the teens and adults who take turns hanging out with this great age group.

Message – Our aim is to teach the truth of the Bible, challenging us to live more like Jesus in our world today: loving God, loving others, taking care of those in need,  and bringing the good news of God’s love and forgiveness to the places it is needed most.

Coffee Break – What could be better than a coffee first thing in the morning?  More coffee!  ….and a great opportunity to get to know a few more people.

Classes – From September through May, we have Christian Education classes – by age groups from children through to adults – downstairs, after the worship service.  A great time for discussions and more relationship building with those in your peer group.
